2020 Reflection
As I reflected on 2020, I realized I had the opportunity to work with such wonderful organizations and want to thank you for the opportunity to work with you. What stands out to me was your ingenuity in taking ideas to reality; your persistence is delivering the best, and your flexibility to be responsive in meaningful ways. You juggled the pandemic, a turbulent election, and a social justice movement.
The results from my partnership with you and your organizations are many. Your collective activities range from standing up new organizations to securing grants for programming to increasing attendance at virtual events to enhancing board effectiveness. You highlight the deep-seated commitment to serving your mission. Throughout the year, working together:
You shifted to virtual and remote work & program engagements
You explored and planned for new program offering
You engaged in strategic planning to build and strengthen your organizations for the future
Based on my experience with leaders such as yourself, I made the decision to launch Colombo Business Consulting, a small consulting organization created to continue to serve small-medium non-profit organizations. Just as you serve your mission, my mission is to serve you – to help you turn ideas into reality.
As I look forward to 2021, there is much work to be done within the sector – rebuilding our arts and culture organizations, addressing social justice, helping people create meaningful lives. The work takes many forms -- there are strategic plans to be created, governance to be enhanced, and programs to be delivered.
A new year is upon us: a year filled with hopes and dreams; intentions and plans. I encourage you to dream big. As 2021 unfolds, I look forward to serving the sector and partnering to help turn ideas into reality. As Dr. Martin Luther King said, “use time creatively in the knowledge that the time is always ripe to do right.”
Sincerely,
Midge
