2022 Non Profit Trends
Happy New Year and a big thank you for the great work done in 2021!!! I am inspired by the dedication, commitment and creativity I see among non-profits as they serve their communities In 2021, the pandemic was center stage and navigating it was a like a roller coaster full of twists and turns, and starts and stops.
Time and time again I witnessed how nimble non-profit organization are as they serve and strengthen their communities. Throughout the year, existing and new programs were offered both in virtual and pop-up venues; strategic planning balanced the pandemic and post pandemic environments; and fundraising remained steady in a very, very challenging year.
As we look to the future, some trends I see among non-profits are:
· Virtual engagements continuing into 2022 and beyond. Be it programs or board meetings, leveraging technology will provide an avenue to connect with constituents. While people are zoom weary, they recognize it provides a way to be with one another
· Flexibility is key. Many organizations have their “Plan A” approach; they also have “Plan B” and sometimes even “Plan C” as back up scenarios. Organizations are quickly shifting between the scenarios to offer programs, conduct board meetings and even meet with key stakeholders.
· “Future proofing,” a new concept that addresses future environmental, political and social shifts, will be featured more prominently in strategic planning. Topics such local climate change, social tensions and diversity and inclusion will all be lens that organizations will consider.
Over 2022 these are some of the key trends non-profit organizations will navigate. As we enter into 2022, an open mind, abundant energy and positive outlook are the traits that will allow us to create a fantastic year.
